This scene takes place outside our protagonist’s house, just before dawn. The only thing that happens in this warm and soothing prelude is that the sun rises, very slowly and beautifully, just as in real life. The calm promise of the moment provides a timely antidote to, and respite from, the prior scene, which was so disturbing in nature.
